Arthur James "A.J." Hall, age 81, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at his home in Enid, Mississippi.
Funeral services for A.J. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Bethel Cemetery in Enid, Mississippi. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Arthur James, known as “A.J.” to many, was born on May 23, 1944 to the late George David Hall, Sr. and Lula Mae Darby Hall in Enid, Mississippi. He devoted most of his working life to the craft of carpentry, where his skills and craftsmanship gained respect within the industry. After retiring, A.J. took on the role of operating his own hog farm. His days were often filled with joy as he tended to his cows and goats, activities that brought him a deep sense of satisfaction and connection to the land.
Beyond his professional life, A.J. found happiness in nature, embracing hobbies that included fishing and coon hunting. He was known for his adventurous spirit and his enjoyment of the great outdoors. A die-hard fan of the New York Yankees, A.J. took pride in supporting his team, sharing his passion for baseball with those around him.
The family he leaves behind includes his children, Lisa Newman (Robert Hudson) of Enid, MS, Greg Hall of Puerto Rico, and Jackie Hall of Tupelo, MS; his brother, Garland Dean Hall (Carolyn) of Enid, MS; two grandchildren, Summer Newman (Chance) and Michael Hall (Michelle), as well as four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren, Caden Hughes, Hazel Louwien, and Adam Louwien.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hall; and his siblings, Elmer Hall, Leslie Hall, Katie Vanstraten, Edith Mae, Betty Schroder, Annie Maddox, and George David “Dude” Hall, Jr.
