Barbara Harrison Perkins, age 79, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the North MS Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the family receiving friends two hours prior to the service. Barbara will be laid to rest following the service there in the church cemetery next to her husband.
Barbara was born on January 17, 1947 to the late James T. Harrison and Jessie Mae Walton Harrison in Lauderdale County, Tennessee.
Barbara’s professional journey reflected her caring nature and strong work ethic. She spent much of her life as a hairdresser, a role where she brought confidence and joy to many. Later, she served as the secretary in the Circuit Clerk office in Panola County until her retirement.
A beloved member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Batesville, Mississippi, Barbara’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her commitment to her church and community was evident to all who knew her.
Outside of her work and church activities, Barbara had a passion for travel and the outdoors. She especially loved camping in her motorhome, finding peace and happiness.
Barbara is survived by her three sons, Todd Perkins and his wife Jeanette, Tim Perkins and his wife Vanessa, and Sean Perkins and his wife Bridgette, all of Batesville, Mississippi. She was also the cherished sister to Charlotte Lamb of Batesville, Kathy Hathcock of South Carolina, and Shirley Darby of Batesville. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Heather Perkins of Fulton, Mississippi; Haley Perkins and Payton Maples of Oxford, Mississippi; Maxwell, McKenzie, and Brody Perkins, all of Batesville—and her two great-grandchildren, Lucious and Lilith McMillen. In addition, Barbara is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Perkins; and her brother, Jerry Harrison.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Barbara request any memorial contributions to be made to the Palmer Home for Children, 800 Baldwin Rd. S Lake Cormorant, MS 38641 or to the Shady Grove Cemetery Fund, 1638 Shady Grove Rd. Batesville, MS 38606.
