Betty G. Davis

Ms. Betty G. Davis, age 89, passed away this afternoon, February 18, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was the widow of Donald Davis of Batesville.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Batesville Presbyterian Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 prior to the service. Interment will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Rev. Jerry Long will officiate.

Betty was born December 15, 1932 to the late Paul Issac Gillespie and Mary Alice Murphy Gillespie in Dalton, GA. Betty worked alongside her late husband, Donald, at Davis Pharmacy where she handled the accounting portion of the family business. Betty was a faithful, lifelong member of Batesville Presbyterian Church.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Lady's Circle and served as an Elder and Deacon for the church. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her yard, reading and sewing. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. 

The family she leaves behind includes her daughter, Diane Davis Cummins (Larry) of Batesville, sons, Donald Davis, Jr of Batesville, and Dale Davis (Julie) of Oxford; grandchildren, Michael Davis, Christopher Cummins, Adam Cummins, Kendal Davis, CPL Ian Davis USMC; 2 great grandchildren, Cera Jo Davis, and Madison Davis.

In addition to her parents and husband Donald, Betty was preceded in death by one sister Mary Jeanette Gillespie Boyd, and one brother, Paul Issac Gillespie, Jr.
