Betty Jean "Bet" Collins, a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in Senatobia, Mississippi. Born on December 3, 1943, in Lambert, Mississippi, Bet devoted her life to family, faith, and community, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched many.
The family invites friends and family to gather in remembrance of Bet at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. for a Memorial service. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 prior to the service.
Known for her warm spirit, contagious smile, and unyielding dedication to those she cared for, Bet took great joy in visiting with friends, working puzzles, playing bingo, enjoying music, and active participation in her church. Her hobbies reflected a lively mind and a heart that embraced fellowship and togetherness. Above all, she was most proud to be a loving grandmother, relishing the special moments watching over her “babies.”
Bet is survived by her sons Coy Collins (Rachel) of Lambert, and Cory Collins (Cristy) of Marks. She also leaves behind a treasured circle of siblings: Dorothy "Dot" Snyder of Walls, Russell Gentry (Cathy) of Batesville, and Brenda Holmes (Scotty) of Oxford, and a brother-in-law Mickey Harris of Brandon. Her grandchildren: Alison Hernandez (Brittany), Trace Collins (Maddie), Caden Collins, and Taylor Beth Collins carry forward her legacy with love and admiration. Her family further extends to nine great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy. Bet also leaves a host of nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.
Her loving husband, Ben Collins, preceded her in death, as did her parents James Nolan Gentry and Clara Long Gentry, her brother James "Pete" Gentry, and her sister Debbie Harris. The memories she shared with those who have passed remain cherished and form an enduring part of her story.
Betty Jean "Bet" Collins will forever be remembered as a devoted matriarch and beloved member of her community. Her grace, love, and enduring spirit remain an inspiration to all who had the honor of knowing her.
