Bettye Jean Clanton Hollowell Tramel, a beloved member of her community, passed away on August 11, 2025, in Batesville, Mississippi. Born on October 1, 1939, in Newborn, Tennessee, she lived a full life characterized by a spirit of fun, love, and resilience.

The family will hold visitation on August 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. The funeral service will commence at 1:00 PM, followed by interment at Forrest Memorial Park.

Bettye dedicated her professional life to her work at Hollowell Pallet Company, where she made lasting contributions to her colleagues and the company. She was known not just for her work ethic but also for her joyful personality, always brightening the day of those around her.

A fun-loving individual at heart, Bettye cherished the moments spent with family, particularly when she could cook for them. Her home was often a gathering place for family meals, filled with laughter and love. Beyond her culinary talents, Bettye had a diverse range of interests that included league bowling, where she demonstrated her competitive spirit by participating in various teams over the years. She was also a talented quilter and an avid reader, pursuits that showcased her creativity and love for storytelling. Betty was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member, always willing to help before her illness kept her from doing so.

Bettye is survived by her daughter, Debbie Nicholson (Tom) of Batesville, and her son, Harold Dean Hollowell, Jr. (Polly) of Batesville. Her legacy continues through her eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren, who will forever carry forward the values she instilled in them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix Leroy Clanton and Agnes Hallmark Clanton, her brother, Felix Leroy Clanton, Jr., one daughter, Melissa Diane Hollowell Bevan.

Bettye Tramel’s vibrant spirit will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
