Birdie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, that was born on February 5, 1947, in Batesville, MS to Oscar and Birdie Idell Johnson Howe, who preceded her in death. Throughout her life, she embodied warmth, generosity, and an unwavering love for her family.
Birdie’s life was marked by her devotion to those she cherished. She was the beloved wife of Jimmy N. Sellers, and together they nurtured a family that included their son, Jimmy Dale Sellers (Tammy), and Birdie’s cherished siblings and friends. Her sister, Marie Downs of Pope, MS, was among those who shared in the fabric of Birdie's life, creating countless memories together.
A proud grandmother, Birdie found immense joy in her role, especially in her relationship with her grandson, Zachary Dale Sellers. His lively spirit always brought a smile to her face. Birdie also treasured her grandchildren Ryan Karsten, Cody Andrew Page (Jodi) and Katherine Ann Page, who is engaged to Chris Clayton, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Ada Jean Page and Henry Page. Each of them held a special place in her heart and were a source of boundless joy.
Birdie's interests reflected her nurturing nature and her connection to the world around her. She had a particular fondness for watching and tending to her hummingbirds, a hobby that brought her peace and delight, and she took pride in looking after her home and yard. Birdie’s passion for cooking was well-known; her famous biscuits and chicken and dumplings will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of sharing a meal with her. She loved ministering to others through the Liberty Hill Baptist Church kitchen while serving on the hostess committee and feeding the church children on Wednesday night and Vacation Bible School.
In addition to her family and home life, Birdie was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley, whose music filled her days with happiness. Her love for life and her family was evident in everything she did, making the world a brighter place for those fortunate enough to know her.
Birdie D. Sellers leaves behind a rich legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Her spirit will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched.
