Brian Phillip "Tripp" Sergi, III

Brian Phillip "Tripp" Sergi, III, was born on November 14, 2005, in Southaven, Mississippi. On July 11, 2026, in Oxford, Mississippi, he left this world, far too soon, leaving behind a multitude of cherished memories and an indelible imprint on the hearts of all who knew him.

The family will celebrate Tripp's life 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Hosanna Family Worship Center in Pope, MS with the interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, July 15, 2026, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home.

A proud 2024 graduate of South Panola High School, Tripp's curiosity and ambition propelled him forward. After high school, he attended Delta State University, where he became a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) Fraternity and took part in the university’s aviation program. Ambitious and committed to following his dreams, Tripp had completed all the paperwork to join the United States Air Force, aspiring to become a pilot—a dream he held close to his heart. Locally, Tripp contributed his talents to Yancey Engineered Solutions in Batesville, MS. His dedication and meticulous work ethic made him a valued member of his team.

Tripp's presence was magnetic; his fun-loving personality made him the center of attention without ever seeking the spotlight. He was a people-person, and loved everyone. From a young age, he radiated a warmth and sincerity that drew people in. Friends and family always knew they could count on Tripp to break the ice and light up a room with laughter. Tripp never met a stranger; he loved meeting new people and had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone.

Tripp grew up in a household filled with love, guided by his mother and father. He loved spending time with his family, building traditions and making memories that will forever be treasured. He would split time every night between his three grandmothers’ homes, June, Jackie, and Sheila aka “Honey” to watch Wheel of Fortune. Whether he was spending time with siblings, shooting pool with his dad, or gathering with friends for a swim, Tripp found great happiness in being with loved ones. Many of his family members called him the "baby whisperer," because of the easy way babies were drawn to him.

But it was in the everyday moments that Tripp’s vivacious spirit truly shone. He loved all genres of music, with a special fondness for Jason Aldean. Tripp enjoyed cooking any kind of Cajun food and working on his vehicles. He had a particular knack for building Legos—earning him the title of “Lego engineer”—and his creativity extended into making funny videos with friends, always intending to bring a smile to those around him. Tripp loved to buy funny or crude shirts off of TikTok shop, displaying his sense of humor.

A Marvel fan at heart, with Ironman as his favorite, he relished a good movie night. Two of his favorite movies were Indiana Jones and The Goonies, but he truly loved re-watching The Little Rascals. He often joked that he was “an old soul,” perhaps belonging to an earlier era—the '50s or '60s.

The memories built alongside him will endure: the unforgettable moment in the State Tournament when Tripp caught a ball as it almost hit the ground and threw the runner out at home plate for the 3rd out to win the game; the thrill of attending a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game with his family, hoping for a moment of TV fame from their seats on the third base line. These stories, like so many, will be cherished forever.

Tripp is survived by his loving parents, Brian Phillip “Pip” Sergi, Jr. and Alexandria “Ali” Nicole Ross Sergi of Batesville, MS; his two siblings, Aldyn Sergi and Blake Sergi both of Batesville, MS; paternal grandmother, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Seay Sergi (the late, Brian Phillip Sergi, Sr.) of Batesville, MS; maternal grandmother, Sheila Catherine Brown aka “Honey” of Batesville, MS; maternal grandfather, Francis Lamar Ross, Jr. (Nancy) of Plant City, FL; his great maternal grandmother, June Griffin (the late, Jimmy Griffin) of Batesville, MS; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind his two pets, Peach and Zeus, and an enormous host of friends.

Tripp was preceded in death by his maternal great grandmother, Alice Cowen; and his paternal great grandparents, Albert and Lorraine Sergi, and James and Lucie Seay.

Tripp will be remembered by his genuineness, profound sense of humor, love for others, and a legacy of a young man who brought light to all corners of his world. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. To know Tripp, was to love Tripp; he definitely lived up to his name.
