Bryce Matthews, a devoted husband, father, and respected Registered Nurse. He was born on April 27, 1991, in Clarksdale, MS, to James Franklin “Frank” and Joann Cannon Matthews. Bryce’s life was one marked by genuine warmth, boundless passion, and an outgoing spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Bryce’s vibrant personality was evident in all aspects of his life. He was a man who deeply loved people, known for his engaging presence and infectious enthusiasm. His love extended to the outdoors and the simple pleasures that brought him joy—whether it was cruising around in his beloved Jeep or creating intricate crafts from wood and deer horns. He had a unique talent for whittling pieces of jewelry, a testament to his dedication and creativity. Even something as ordinary as cutting grass brought him pleasure, despite his allergy to the clippings. Bryce’s interests were as diverse as his character—an ardent lover of antiques, a passionate history buff with a special fascination for World War II, and an enthusiastic fan of the Harry Potter series, having read the books and watched the movies countless times.

Bryce’s sense of humor and love for life shone through in his famous “Cat Video,” which brought laughter to many. He cherished comedy and found tranquility gazing at the stars in the night sky—a small yet profound joy. His athletic spirit thrived on the softball field, where he played in various leagues and tournaments alongside his teammates, embodying camaraderie and sportsmanship.

Bryce’s proudest accomplishment was the love he shared with his wife, Kaylen Ware Matthews of Batesville, MS—a true fairy tale romance that brought light and happiness to their lives. Their love blossomed most tenderly in their eight-month-old daughter, Sharlotte “Lottie” Blake Matthews, whose presence filled Bryce’s heart with unparalleled joy.

He was a cherished son to Frank and Joann Matthews of Batesville, MS, and a beloved brother to Trent Matthews (Ami) of Arkabutla, MS. Bryce’s family circle extended lovingly to his in-laws, Keelyn and Nancy Ware of Batesville, MS, and six nieces: Kelsey Matthews, Kinsley Matthews, Harleigh Matthews, Zoey Ware, Dacee Kate Campbell, and Coey Ware. These connections formed the fabric of a life rich in love and devoted relationships.

Bryce is preceded in death by his brother, James Franklin “Jamie” Matthews; maternal grandparents, Oran and Maxine Cannon; paternal grandfather, James I. Matthews; and paternal grandmother, Sarah Matthews Castleberry (Billy Joe). Their memories remain a cherished part of his legacy.

Bryce Matthews lived a life full of love, laughter, and heartfelt connections. Though his presence on earth has ended, the imprint he leaves behind—a testament to his boundless spirit, compassion, and joy—will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. May his memory be a blessing and his soul find eternal peace.
