Charles Dee Martin

Charles Dee Martin, age 81, passed away at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, TN, on July 21, 2025.

Funeral services for Charles will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 at Wells Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Pope, MS.

Charles was born in July of 1944 to the late William Ray Martin and Mamie Jewel Duke Martin in Yalobusha County, MS. Charles was one of seven children. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Charles was a carpenter by trade. Many in the community have used Charles' skills in carpentry and painting in their homes. Charles was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Pope, MS.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Minnie Ola Burns Martin, Winford Martin, William Leroy Martin, Robert Eugene "Bobby" Martin, Jimmie Martin, and Thomas Martin.

He is survived by his nephew, William E. Martin of Batesville, great nieces; Jessica Martin, Betty Jean Martin, and Brenda Martin all of Batesville; great-great nieces, Sampson Sanford, Delilah Sanford, Destiny Hope House, Jayden Grace Martin. 

He will be missed by all who knew his kind soul. May he rest in Peace.
