Charles W. Slaughter

Charles W. Slaughter, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on November 1, 2025, at his home in Sardis, MS. He was born on August 16, 1936, in Yocona, MS to Jewel and Ruth Slaughter.

Funeral services for Charles will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Charles dedicated over 35 years of his professional life to BellSouth, which later became AT&T, where he served as a manager before retiring. His work ethic and commitment to his career were well recognized, and he made a lasting impact on those around him.

In addition to his illustrious career, Charles honorably served in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He was a man of many interests and hobbies; he derived joy from fishing and golf, and he possessed a creative spirit that led him to make wooden crosses, which he generously gifted to others. His kind and loving personality earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Charles was proud to be a member of the Masonic Lodge # 66, where he fostered friendships and a sense of community.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sue Russell Slaughter of Sardis, alongside their daughter, Debbie McCown of Germantown, TN. Charles was cherished by his five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and blessed with three great-great grandchildren.

He now joins in peaceful rest with his predeceased family members, including his son, Charles Wesley Slaughter, Jr., his brother, Jimmy Slaughter, and his sister, Mary Jane Pettibone, as well as his parents, Jewel and Ruth Slaughter.

Charles W. Slaughter will be remembered for his compassion, integrity, and the unconditional love he extended to his family and friends. His legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.
