Chester Oliver Woodard, a beloved resident of Batesville, Mississippi, peacefully passed away at his home on October 5, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on October 14, 1940, in Batesville, he lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a devotion to his family and community.
There will be a Memorial Service held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with the family receiving friends at 2:00 prior to the service. Friends are invited to celebrate and remember Chester at this time.
Chester proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he transitioned into a career as a truck driver, a profession he embraced both by love and trade. He also spent 25 years working at Thermos, where he was known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chester took great satisfaction in his role within the community, as a member of the Sardis Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Blackjack Community Center, and Sardis Lake Baptist Church. He was deeply involved in church activities, demonstrating his faith and dedication to supporting others.
Chester's interests were simple yet fulfilling; he found joy in riding his tractor and tending to his cows, often taking pleasure in the tranquility of nature and rural life. These hobbies reflected his grounded nature and love for the land he cherished.
A loving family man, Chester leaves behind three children: Robert "Bobby" Woodard and his wife Brenda of Pope, Randall Scott Woodard and his wife Bridget of Batesville, and Eva Mae Hartfield and her husband Rusty of Horn Lake. He is also survived by his siblings Danny Woodard, David Woodard, Martha Webb, June McGehee, and Glynn Joslin, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Josh Woodard, Jessie Williams, Randall Winkler, Candace McCullar, Katey Hartfield, Alison Hartfield, and 13 great-grandchildren who will continue to honor his legacy.
Chester was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Woodard, whose memory will forever be cherished.
Chester Oliver Woodard will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, dedication to family, and the kindness he shared with all who knew him. His contributions to both his family and community leave an enduring legacy that will be cherished in the hearts of many.
