David Grant, a dedicated heavy equipment operator and cherished family man, passed away on August 11, 2025, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi. Born on September 1, 1970, in Panola County, Mississippi, David lived a life filled with love for the outdoors and deep connections to those around him.
David's career as a heavy equipment operator showcased his strong work ethic and hands-on skills, which he honed over many years. Yet, it was his rich involvement in the lives of his family that truly defined him. He was particularly passionate about his time spent outdoors, hunting and fishing, interests that allowed him to forge lasting memories with loved ones. His pride in his family was evident, especially in the relationships he built with his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. David often spoke fondly of his beloved mother, Dorothy Irene Jones, acknowledging her profound influence in his life.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes his daughter, Brittany Dyer, of Como, and son-in-law, Shawn Webb. His bond with his siblings was strong; he is survived by his siblings, Dennis Grant of Batesville, Vicky Hart of Vancleave, Robby Grant of Como, and Patricia Childress of Como. David's legacy continues through his nine grandchildren—Isabella, Raelynne, Atlas, Natalie, Dianna, Brody, Shelby, Rylan, and Casey—and his cherished great-grandchild, Azalea; lastly his beloved mother, Dorothy Irene Jones.
David also reunites in spirit with his beloved wife, Teresa D. Grant, and his siblings Arthur Biggers, Thomas Grant, and Wayne Grant, along with his father, J.D. Grant, who preceded him in death.
As we remember David Grant, it is his zest for life, penchant for adventure, and unwavering love for his family that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He touched the lives of many with his laughter and wisdom, leaving an indelible mark that will be cherished for generations to come.
Service will be Saturday at New Hope Baptist 124 County 519, Como, MS 38619. Family gathering 11:30-1:00 pm. Public visitation will begin at 1pm-2pm with a brief service to follow.
