Dennis Rousseau Sanders, born on July 6, 1954, in Charleston, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home in Pope, Mississippi, on August 16, 2026. He was 72 years old.

Throughout his life, Dennis exemplified dedication and service—in his career and to his country. He proudly served in the United States Navy, carrying forward a sense of duty and discipline that would guide all he did.

Following his military service, Dennis found his true calling on the open road. He spent most of his working years as a truck driver, a job he truly loved. Through his time on the road, Dennis saw much of the world, developing a special fondness for the scenery of Arizona and Oklahoma.

Dennis liked nothing more than to stay busy, especially outside, and was often found cutting the grass.

The loving family he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his two children, Jackie McMullan of Pope, MS, and Jefferson Sanders of Jackson, TN; his mother, Eloise McCachren Byrd of Southaven, MS; two sisters, Joyce Sanders Via and Amber Dawn Barker both of Southaven, MS; 5 grandchildren, Tommy McKee, Jr., Jacob McKee, Damion McMullan, Hunter R. Sanders, and Neiley S. Sanders; and 5 great grandchildren.

Dennis is now reunited with his wife, Deborah Gail Keen Sanders; his father, Edward Glenn “Bubba” Sanders; and one grandson, Blake Sanders.

The kindness and care he extended to his family will be cherished memories and will continue to influence those who knew him well.
