For many years, Dorothy served as a telephone operator for South Central Bell, where she became a familiar voice to many in her community. She subsequently worked at First Security Bank in Batesville, further demonstrating her commitment to serving others. Her professional life was only a part of her rich legacy; her real joy came from being a loving mother and spending time with her family.
Dorothy was a devoted member of the Fredonia Baptist Church in New Albany. To quote her son Rob, “she was the only person I have known to have worn out multiple bibles from use”. She found great pleasure in shopping, traveling, and sharing her life’s adventures with her beloved family. Her lively spirit and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzy Eubanks (Billy) of New Albany, and her sons, Rob Roberson (Rachele) of Cuba, MO. and Jimmy Roberson of Batesville. Dorothy also leaves behind two brothers, Jimmy Dale and Bobby Helmes. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Amber, Cole, and Chris, her ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Dorothy’s warmth and loving nature will remain in the hearts of her family forever.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Jewel Helmes, three sisters; Ginger Gray, Margaret Sides, Sissy Moore, as well as two brothers; Billy and Bubba Helmes, who embraced her with love throughout her life.
Dorothy Roberson will be deeply missed, but her spirit and memories will live on through the lives she enriched with her love and kindness.
