Ula "Janie Ruth" White

Ula "Janie Ruth" White, age 86, passed away Tuesday evening, September 23, 2025, at her home in Courtland, MS.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 26, 2025, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends prior to the service at 1:00 P.M. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope, MS.

Janie Ruth had a fulfilling career as a hairdresser, using her skills to bring joy to many through her craft. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in various hobbies and interests. She was an avid gardener, often spending her days working in her flower and vegetable gardens, relishing the beauty of nature. Additionally, Janie enjoyed playing the piano, a talent that brought music and warmth into her home. Her love for the outdoors was matched only by her deep affection for animals, reflecting her compassionate and nurturing personality.

Janie Ruth was a devout Christian her entire life. She enjoyed attending church and found solace and community in her faith. Her commitment to her Lord and the bonds she formed within the church were significant aspects of her life.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry on her legacy. Her daughters, Debbie White Traywick of Pope, Mississippi, and Cynthia White Davis of Olive Branch, Mississippi, along with her five grandchildren, Devren Isbell (Michael), Zachary Traywick, Samuel Davis, Zayde Williams, and Tanner Williams, were a source of pride and joy for her. Janie Ruth was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Kelsie Isbell, Kayne Isbell, and Kylee Isbell, who brought immeasurable happiness into her life.

Janie Ruth is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melburn Quay White, her parents, Murray and Eva Sartain Ellzey, her sister, Verna Vines, and her brother, James Ellzey.
