Floyd McGehee, age 79, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, MS.

A service to celebrate Floyd's life will be 12:00 P.M. Friday, February 13, 2026, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery with military honors. Beginning at 10:00 A.M. Friday, the family will be receiving friends prior to the celebration.

Floyd was born on April 6, 1946, in Warrington, England to the late Emmitt Floyd and Marion Pemberton McGehee. Floyd led a life filled with purpose, compassion, and commitment to his family and friends.

Floyd's career in banking began at Mechanics Bank in Water Valley, MS, where he served for twenty years. He later partnered with his brother Paul to establish M & M Construction, showcasing not only his financial acumen but also his entrepreneurial spirit. His education included a master's degree in banking, an achievement that underscored his dedication to his profession, as well as an undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi.

In addition to his impressive career, Floyd proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army, highlighting his sense of duty and commitment to his country. He was known for his hobbies and interests, which revealed his multifaceted personality. Floyd was an enthusiastic supporter of Ole Miss sports, particularly Ole Miss Baseball, and he was also a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. His love of the outdoors led him to enjoy woodworking, walking, and trout fishing, activities that brought him joy and fulfillment. For thirty-five years, he contributed his time and energy to the Magnolia Youth League of Water Valley, MS, nurturing the dreams of countless young athletes. More recently, he took great pride in watching his grandson excel in his sports.

Floyd is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Camille McGehee Breckenridge (Kent) of Water Valley, MS; his son, Leland Andrew McGehee (Joanne) of Water Valley, MS; and his sister, Ann McCain (the late Bill) of Batesville, MS: two brothers, Charles "Jimmy" McGehee (Kathy) of St. John's, FL; Paul McGehee (Debbie) of Senatobia, MS. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Sloan Garner (fiancé Chris Stuart), Brame Garner (Jordan), Houston McGehee, Maren McGehee, and one great-granddaughter, along with numerous nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt Floyd and Marion Pemberton McGehee, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life.
