Obituary

Jesse Frank Sparks, known to those who loved him simply as “Frank,” was born on November 2, 1946, and entered into eternal rest on June 24, 2026. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Douglas Sparks and Estelle Smith Sparks, as well as an infant sibling, Baby Sparks. He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory, including his brother and lifelong best friend, Charles Ernest “Ernie” Sparks, along with many beloved cousins.

For approximately 25 years, Frank worked behind the scenes at WBLE radio station, where he found great joy in his work. Some of his favorite moments were Friday nights during football season, when he took great pride in helping bring the excitement of local football to listeners through the behind the scenes help he provided.

An eccentric man, Frank found joy in tinkering with electronics. He had an enduring love for music of every genre, though no artist ever held a place in his heart quite like Elvis Presley. A devoted collector, he carefully preserved the golden age of analog sound through an extensive personal library of vinyl records, rare 7-inch 45s, and 8-track tapes. He also treasured the simple pleasures in life, especially spending time with Ernie watching episodes of I Love Lucy, sharing laughter that became a cherished part of their bond.

As a child, Frank attended Blackjack Presbyterian Church. Later in life, he became a faithful member of Faith Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, where his love for Jesus Christ was evident.

Frank will be remembered for his unique personality, kind heart, and the genuine joy he found in the things he loved.
