Geraldine Putnam, age 82, of Oxford, entered her eternal home on August 18, 2026.
Funeral services for Geraldine will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with the family receiving friends at 12:00 noon. Geraldine will be laid to rest at Bluff Springs Cemetery in Walthall, MS.
Born in Batesville, Mississippi on July 23, 1944, Geraldine lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love. A devoted Baptist, and stay-at-home mother, she dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a home filled with warmth, comfort, and unconditional love. Her greatest joy was found in the people she loved, and she poured her heart into every role she held as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Geraldine was known for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and servant's heart. She enjoyed cooking meals that gathered family around the table, sewing with love and care, working crossword puzzles, and spending precious time with those she loved most. The memories she created and the values she instilled will continue to live on through generations of her family.
In her later years, Geraldine faced the challenges of Parkinson's disease and dementia with grace and courage. Though the disease gradually changed many things, it could never diminish the love she gave or the impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her.
She was "preceded in death by her husband, Paul Putnam; her parents, Hubert and Margaret Karr; one brother, Jim Karr; and three sisters, Anne McKee, Sara Selby, and Janie Criddle.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tawana Ritter and Marie Kendrix (Trey); her grandchildren, Amber Dettor (Michael), Maggie Ritter, Nathan Hamblin, Ethan Hamblin, and Sean Hamblin, and her great-grandchildren Hardie Dettor" "and Remington Ashford.
While her family grieves her loss, they find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Her legacy of faith, love, kindness, and devotion to family will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to Yalobusha General Nursing Home and Enhabit Hospice Care for all they done to care for "Our Girl".
