Gladys J. Underwood Aguilar, born on January 17, 1954, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, in Batesville, Mississippi. A beloved member of her community, Gladys will be remembered for her kind spirit and her profound love for nature and animals.
Throughout her life, Gladys found joy in riding around the countryside, she felt most at home where the Delta meets the hills. She had a passion for fishing, often sharing tranquil moments by the water’s edge with her family. A devoted reader, she found comfort in the pages of her favorite books, escaping into the stories that captivated her heart and mind. Gladys also had a soft spot for cats and animals, embodying her nurturing spirit in the way she cared for her furry companions.
Gladys leaves behind her loving husband, Felipe Aguilar, of Batesville, and her son, Paul Swindle, also of Batesville. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Underwood Harrison, of Batesville, and her brother, Ronnie Underwood.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ollie Williams Underwood, alongside her siblings Linda Still and Sammie Underwood. Their memories will forever be cherished as part of her legacy.
As family and friends reflect on her life, they will carry forward the warmth, laughter, and love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her. Gladys J. Underwood Aguilar will be missed dearly and remembered fondly.
