Harry James Duncan, age 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday morning, February 22, 2026 after a battle with cancer.
Funeral services for Harry will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Black Jack Baptist Church with the family receiving friends at 12 Noon. The interment will follow the funeral service at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS.
Harry was born in the rolling hills of West Virginia on May 2, 1955 to the late Harry O. and Reba M. Duncan. He married the love of his life, Cheryl Tabor, on April 26, 1980 and they began a life that was rooted in faith, love, and family, and shared many wonderful memories. Harry was also a devoted father of two, taking pride in raising them and the lives they built.
During Harry’s journey through life, he felt a strong desire to serve his country in the Army National Guard, receiving his highest rank as Sergeant.
Later on in life, he found peace on his 10 acres where he found his days doing what he loved most- hunting and enjoying the outdoors. He truly found joy in the quiet life.
Harry was of Baptist faith, and a faithful member of Black Jack Baptist Church where he found comfort and a sense of community.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cheryl Duncan of Batesville, MS; his daughter, Candice Duncan Harris (Danny) of Oxford, MS; his son, Garrett Duncan (Amanda) of Southaven, MS; and his beloved granddaughter, Hensley Claire Duncan of Southaven. His presence and steady strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Having finished his work here on earth, he will now rest in eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue through those who knew and loved him.
