Homer Newel Stewart, age 93, passed away Monday, August 24, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford, MS.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 27, 2026, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. The friends are invited to visit with the family prior to the service beginning at 12:00 P.M.

Homer Newel Stewart was born on January 24, 1933, in Water Valley, Mississippi to the late Mayford and Myrtle Newman Stewart

Mr. Stewart built a life centered on hard work, faith, and family. He was a machinist and a farmer, and he was known as an avid outdoorsman and gardener. He also had a special talent as a sewing machine mechanic. At home, he loved his cats, and those who knew him well understood that he was, above all, a family man who loved his family dearly. He was also a member and faithful supporter of Goodwill Church of God.

He is survived by his children, Dinah Stewart McKim and her husband, Gary of Bryant, AR; Vivian Stewart McKlemurry and her late husband Rick of Brandon, MS; Tammy Roberts and her husband Mike of Brandon, MS; Rhonda Clark and her husband, Tommy of Batesville, MS; Homer Darrel Stewart and his wife, Jane of Clarksville, AR; Victor Stewart and his wife, Cindy of Purvis, MS; Timothy Stewart and his wife, Dawn of Courtland, MS; Chris Stewart of Ocean Springs, MS; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Raye Stewart Faulk of Anchorage, AK. His family was a deep source of pride and joy throughout his life, and his love for them remained constant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Bowles Stewart; his father, Mayford Stewart; his mother, Myrtle Newman Stewart; and eight siblings. Their memories remained an enduring part of his life and legacy.

Homer Newel Stewart will be remembered for his steady devotion to his work, his church, the outdoors, and the family he cherished so deeply. His life leaves a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him.
