Howard Stuart Jackson, Jr., affectionately known as JR (Junior), passed away on January 24, 2026, in Batesville, Mississippi, at the age of 61. He was born on May 20, 1964, in Winston Salem, North Carolina, to the late Howard Stuart Jackson and Betty Jo Greene Jackson. He was the husband of Angela Irby Jackson.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS and a private family memorial service will be held at a later time.
JR (Junior) lived a life filled with passion and joy, embraced by his love for family and an array of hobbies that brought him immense happiness. He was known for his adventurous spirit, relishing in activities such as riding motorcycles, hunting, and fishing. JR's (Junior’s) love for grilling extended beyond just food; it was a way for him to connect with his family and friends, where he created lasting memories. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR, frequently attending races, and took great pleasure in camping and visiting the Loretta Lynn Music Festival. His greatest treasure, however, was his grandchildren, whom he adored deeply and cherished every moment spent with them.
JR (Junior) is survived by his step-daughter, Kimberly Anderson (Chavis Jackson) of Enid, MS; step-sons Rodeny Anderson (Cortney) and Richie Anderson (Lauren), both of Grenada, MS; sisters Patsy Jones (Coy) of Oakland, TN, and Donna Jackson of Horn Lake, MS; a host of nieces and nephews; and ten beloved grandchildren: Lane Rice, Landon Rice, T.J. Sparks, Remington Anderson, Lance Anderson, Langston Anderson, Nyla Jackson, Destinee Anderson, Corbyn Anderson, and Cooper Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Stuart Jackson and Betty Jo Greene Jackson, as well as his sister, Wanda Lee Walker.
