James Roy Daugherty

James Roy Daugherty, age 58, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN.

The family will receive friends 1:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon, August 5, 2026, at Wells Funeral Home followed by a 2:00 P.M. funeral service in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home.

James was born on November 30, 1967 to the late Selmer and Marlene Pearson Daugherty in Marks, MS. He spent most of his life on the open road, working as a truck driver. His career took him to countless places, but no matter how many miles lay behind him, he remained rooted in his values, carrying with him the warmth of home wherever he traveled.

Away from work, James sought peace and happiness in the great outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter, and also enjoyed going fishing. James especially cherished time spent riding the lake bottom, surrounded by the quiet beauty of nature. On days meant for adventure, James delighted in driving his 350Z sports car.

Perhaps most memorable was James’ remarkable sense of humor. He was always making everyone laugh, lighting up rooms and lifting spirits wherever he went.

James is survived by his devoted wife, Connie Lynn Daugherty of Batesville, MS; his daughter, Jessica Daugherty of Water Valley, MS; and two siblings, Gary Daugherty of Courtland, MS and Carolyn Peters of Memphis, TN.
