Jazmine, affectionally known to some as “Jazzy”, was born on January 23, 2008 in Oxford, Mississippi. Throughout her 17 years here on this earth, Jazmine touched the lives of many with her kind and generous heart.
Jazmine was a beloved Senior at South Panola High School, where her vibrant spirit and infectious smile brought joy to her classmates, teachers, and coaches.
Throughout her time, Jazmine balanced her passion for academics with a busy work life, taking on part-time roles at The Oaks at Sherin Farms in Oakland, MS, and Yamato Japanese Steakhouse in Batesville. Her dedication to her work and school work reflected her commitment to working hard and having perseverance.
Beyond her academic and professional endeavors, Jazmine was known for her warm personality; she had a remarkable ability to light up any room with her presence. Her love for her friends was profound, and she held her faith close to her heart, attending the Hope Church of God in Oakland, MS. Jazmine’s compassion extended not only to people but also to animals. She had an unwavering passion for all living things, especially cats and kittens. Jazmine actively rescued cats, raised kittens, and worked with the Homeless Animals Relief Project (HARP) to ensure that these animals found their forever homes.
In her free time, Jazmine found joy in listening to music, playing volleyball, and sharing laughter with her friends. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, such as taking a good afternoon nap and indulging in her favorite snacks.
Those Jazzy leaves behind include her siblings, Brittany Allen of Quitman, AR, Kimberly Horton of Batesville, MS, and Justin Horton of Batesville, MS; her father, Steve Horton of Batesville, MS; her mother, Tanya Glover of Oakland, MS; paternal grandparents, Edward and Gladys Horton of Batesville, MS; maternal grandmother, Connie Rowland of Batesville, MS; her beloved cousin, Robert Doss of Batesville, MS; and her best friend who was like a sister to her, Jordan Taylor of Enid, MS.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Gage Willard.
As we remember Jazmine, let remember her loving spirit, her big heart, her love for Jesus, and the many ways she enriched our lives. Though her time with us was brief, her impact will resonate for years to come, inspiring others to love fiercely and care deeply, just as she did.
