Jearl was born October 18, 1940 to the late Weldon Black and Edna Hendrix Black in Trenton, TN. Jearl was the owner of A1 Television Repair in Memphis, TN. His dream had always been to live on the land he purchased in Batesville 30 years ago with his two sons living with him on the property. He never met a stranger and if he did, they became immediate friends. Jearl held his real estate license as well and attended Blackjack Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, Jearl was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Thomas Black, Ty Black, and Charles Black; and one sister, Bobbie Black Morris.

The loving family he leaves behind, includes his two sons, Jearl Black, Jr. (Barbara) of Batesville, Scott Black and his son Eli of Batesville; mother of his children, Carolyn Black; the love of his life, Ann Rhodes of Batesville; brothers, Jimmy Black of MO., James Black of OK.; sisters, Joyce Black Carlin of Selmer, TN., Lois Black Rogers also of Selmer.
