Jerry E. Pitcock, age 83, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the North MS Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi. He was the husband of Carolyn R. Pitcock.
Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Jerry was born on January 17, 1942 in Pope, Mississippi to the late Garland E. Pitcock and Frances Deaton Pitcock. He was well-known for his dedication to his career, owning and operating Pitcock's Glass, where he served countless members of the community with pride and integrity.
A passionate athlete in his younger years, Jerry made significant contributions to sports during his educational journey. He played football at Northwest Junior College and later excelled in baseball at Delta State University, where he earned a place in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry was a devoted family man who cherished his grandchildren, proudly attending all their sporting events. His nurturing spirit and dedication to family were evident throughout his life. Even in retirement, Jerry stayed busy, always finding ways to contribute to the lives of others and engage in meaningful activities.
Jerry had a personality that embraced kindness and friendship. He was a man who could always be counted on, leaving a mark as a good friend to many. An avid golfer and nature enthusiast, he took pride in his yard and enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether he was mowing the lawn or casting his line while fishing.
In addition to his personal pursuits, Jerry actively participated in community service; he was a valued member of the Batesville Lions Club and regularly attended First Baptist Church in Batesville. He also honorably served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. Jerry’s commitment to both faith and community demonstrated his character and the values he held.
The loving family Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Carolyn R. Pitcock of Batesville, MS; Camie Rushing (Lewis) of Batesville, MS, Kristi Pierce (Andy) of Batesville, MS, and Margaret Frechou (Paul) of Slidell, LA; his sister, Patricia Wilson of Iuka, MS; 8 grandchildren, Spencer Rushing (Rachel), Reid Rushing (Faith), Madeline Pierce, Forrest Pierce, Baylor Pierce, Noah Pierce, Lindsey Fedyk (Nicholas), and Cole Frechou; and four great grandchildren, Simon Fedyk, Luka Fedyk, MikaRose Fedyk, and Lilia Fedyk.
