Joan Tubbs, a gentle soul whose life was devoted to the love and care of her family, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Tupelo, Mississippi. Born on September 25, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joan carried with her a quiet strength and kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Joan found her greatest joy embracing every moment with her loved ones. She was a woman of deep reserve, never one to complain, yet her kindness and generosity spoke volumes without a single word. Her days were often filled with simple pleasures—playing a peaceful game of solitaire and faithfully following her daily “stories”, which brought her comfort and delight.
Though Joan’s demeanor was quiet, her heart was full, and her presence quietly wove warmth into the fabric of her family’s lives. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Jeanette Bulick of Batesville, Mississippi, and her devoted sons, Eddie Vance of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Kevin Vance of Rockingham, Virginia. Her legacy lives on vibrantly through her five beloved grandchildren: David Vance, Emily Vance, Hannah Jaudon, Katie Vance, and Billy Needham, all of whom carried her love in their hearts.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Frank John and Emily Covington Inderlied Caso, and her two brothers, Donald & Frank “Buddy” Caso whose memory she honored through a lifetime of graciousness and quiet dignity.
Though she was reserved, Joan’s impact was profound. She exemplified a life lived with humility, love, and unwavering strength—reminding us all how powerful kindness can be, even when spoken softly. Her memory will forever remain a tender presence in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her in return.
