Joan Daugherty Zimmer

Joan Daugherty Zimmer, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on July 31, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS.

Joan was born on September 1, 1963, in Batesville, MS to the late Selmer and Marlene Pearson Daugherty.

Joan's warm and steadfast presence will be dearly missed by her husband, David Zimmer, who stood by her side through life's many joys and challenges. She is also lovingly remembered by her son, Thomas Pruitt, her sister, Carolyn Peters, her brother, Gary Daugherty, and her three cherished grandchildren, each of whom brought immense happiness to her later years.

Throughout her life, Joan faced her share of loss. She was preceded in death by her father, Selmer Daugherty, her mother, Marlene Pearson Daugherty, her daughter, Angela Pruitt Teter and numerous other family members. Their memory remained a source of strength for Joan, guiding her in moments of reflection and remembrance.

Joan dedicated much of her career to hard and honest work. She was a former factory worker and, most recently, continued her commitment to service in her position at Wal-Mart. 

Beyond her professional life, Joan found joy in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching scary movies, a pastime that often brought her family together for evenings filled with laughter and shared suspense. Her love of going out to eat reflected both her appreciation for good food and her fondness for companionship. Joan was also an enthusiastic attendee at stock car races, delighting in the excitement these events provided.
