John H. Britt, Sr., a beloved member of the Batesville community, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 78.
Funeral services for John will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the funeral service. The interment will follow the service at Senatobia Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.
John was born on May 20, 1947 to the late Robert Clyde Britt and Monte Lee Savage Britt in Senatobia, MS. He was the former owner of Batesville Quality Carpets, a business that he not only cherished but also poured his heart into. He took immense pride in his work, always striving to help his customers in any way he could. Through his endeavors, he formed friendships that spanned decades, reflecting his commitment to his community and clients alike.
A proud patriot, John honorably served our country in the United States Navy. His service exemplified his dedication and sense of duty, values that he carried throughout his life.
John was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville, where he served as a Deacon and RA Director. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his interactions with others and instilling in him a deep sense of compassion.
Aside from his professional accomplishments and commitment to his community, John was known for his unwavering support of South Panola Football. He was an avid fan, rarely missing a game, and he cherished the camaraderie shared with his buddies during those moments of excitement and community spirit.
Additionally, John was a proud member of the Kiwanis Club, where he participated in various community service projects and initiatives, further demonstrating his dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Betty Britt of Batesville, MS; his three children, Mike Britt (Anne Marie), Steven Britt (Matt), and Kayla Dubois (Dillon) all of Batesville, MS; two sisters, Shirley Trimm of Senatobia, MS, and Rose Mary Bailey of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; as well numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his two children, John H. Britt, Jr. and Janet Denise Britt.
John will be remembered for his kind heart, his passion for building connections, and his unwavering service to both his country and his community. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
