Kenneth W. Smith, age 61, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN.
The family will be celebrating his life at 10:00 A.M. Saturday morning, September 20, 2025, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Kenneth was born on July 22, 1964 to Cecil Ray Smith and the late Mary Louise Moore Smith in Marks, Mississippi. Throughout his career as a mechanic, Kenneth earned a reputation for his remarkable ability to build and fix anything that came his way. His hands were as skilled as his mind was creative, and he took great pride in his work, which not only supported him but also enriched the lives of those around him.
Kenneth was a true car enthusiast; his love for racing and tinkering with old cars was evident to anyone who knew him. He found joy in the challenge of automotive repair and restoration, often spending hours in his workshop, bringing old vehicles back to life.
Kenneth was also a member of the Victory Independence Baptist Church, serving as the church treasurer. His faith and commitment to his church family and friends were evident.
The family left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Lisa M. Smith of Pope, MS; his three children, David Smith, Brandon Capwell (Alicia), and Miranda Jones all of Batesville, MS; his father, Cecil Ray Smith; his two siblings, Lisa Cagle (Terry) of Batesville, MS, and Dennis Smith (Judy) of Courtland, MS; and five grandchildren, Walker Jones, Katie Beth Capwell, Allie Capwell, Race Smith, and Laney Cosby.
Kenneth leaves behind a rich legacy of hard work, resilience, and a spirit of ingenuity. His passion for mechanics and racing resonated throughout his life and left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to share in his interests.
