Lee Morris Hawkins

Lee Morris Hawkins, a cherished husband, devoted father, beloved brother, and treasured friend, passed away on September 8, 2025, in Southaven, Mississippi, at the age of 66. He was born on May 29, 1959, in Sunflower County, Mississippi, and throughout his life, he exemplified dedication, love, and compassion.

A celebration of Lee's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, Mississippi. 

Lee had a distinguished career as a district manager for Kemper Insurance Company, where he applied his diligent work ethic and passion for service. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his pride in the accomplishments he made in his field.

An honorable veteran, Lee proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. His time in the military shaped him into a man of integrity and discipline, qualities that defined many aspects of his life.

Lee’s interests and passions extended far beyond his professional pursuits. He had a deep love for sports of all kinds, which he enjoyed. Lee found joy in traveling and shopping, but above all else, he cherished the moments spent with his family. His family was the cornerstone of his existence, and he took great pride in nurturing those relationships.

Lee is survived by his loving wife, Alberta Truitt Hawkins of Batesville, Mississippi; his daughters, Lashonda Hawkins Johnson (Baron) of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Asia Hawkins Houston (Martin) of Houston, Texas, and Tanya Hawkins Herron (Brandon) of Olive Branch, Mississippi; and his son, Lee Morris Hawkins, Jr. (Veronica)  of Phoenix, Arizona. He also leaves behind his sister, Joann Slater of Byhalia, Mississippi, and brothers, Thomas Hawkins of Indianola, Mississippi, and Jessie Hawkins, Jr. of Virginia. Lee was a doting grandfather to London Johnson and Britten Herron, who will carry forward his legacy of love and commitment to family.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mae Retha Hoskins Hawkins, and his sister, Mae Frances Hawkins. Their memories will remain forever in the hearts of those he has left behind.
