Lewis L. Doubleday, Jr., age 77, passed away Sunday morning, March 15, 2026 at his home in Pope, Mississippi.
Funeral services for Lewis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at the Faith Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church with the interment to follow at Chapel Hill in Pope, Mississippi. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening, March 17, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home, as well as one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
Lewis was born on July 1, 1948, in Oakland, Mississippi to the late Lewis Leslie Doubleday, Sr. and Zula Louise Ware Doubleday. He led a life marked by dedication and a commitment to both family and faith.
Lewis was the proud business owner and operator of Charleston Printing, a role he fulfilled with pride until his retirement approximately five years ago. His hard work and perseverance were well known and respected by those who had the privilege of knowing him or doing business with him.
A man of deep conviction, Lewis was a faithful and active member of the Faith Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Batesville, Mississippi. His love for his church family and dedication to spiritual life were a significant and cherished part of his identity. He found great joy and comfort in the fellowship and worship that his church provided.
Family was at the heart of Lewis’s life. He treasured spending time with his loved ones and was known to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, including savoring his morning coffee.
The family he leaves behind includes his wife, Linda Doubleday of Pope, MS; his children, Scottie Michelle Doubleday, Lewis Leslie Doubleday, III (Leigh Ann), and Christian Michael Doubleday all of Pope, MS; his sister, Elizabeth L. Vance of Carrolton, MS; and three brothers, Bill Doubleday of Oakland, MS, David Crockett Doubleday of Batesville, MS, and Barry Lee Doubleday of Oakland, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The grandchildren Lewis leaves behind, whom he all adored includes: Ciera Redwine (Bo), Kristin Britt (Josh), Jessica Broyles (Jarrett), Stormy Cook (Jacob), Ashley Groner, Bethany Robbins (David), and Emily Mersereau; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, Lilah Jo Ellingburg.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Katherine B. Carvan; and five brothers, William Thomas Doubleday, Donald Eugene Doubleday, Sam Doubleday, Joe Edward Doubleday, and Jessie Martin Doubleday; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and love that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
