Lloyd Ervin Campbell, Jr., age 88, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Sardis, MS.
A memorial service for Lloyd will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the Batesville Presbyterian Church with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
Lloyd was born on December 24, 1937, in Leflore County, Mississippi, Lloyd’s journey through life was marked by dedication, passion, and an unwavering spirit.
Lloyd was a man who lived with purpose and hard work, spending much of his career as a salesman, where his integrity and commitment were evident to all who knew him. A lifelong learner, he earned an associate’s degree from Northwest Mississippi Junior College in Senatobia, MS, laying a foundation for a life enriched by knowledge and curiosity.
His love for his country shone brightly through his thirty-one years of honorable service in the Mississippi National Guard, culminating in the esteemed rank of Major. This achievement reflects his steadfast dedication and the profound respect he earned from his comrades and community alike.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Lloyd was a man of many passions. He was an avid private pilot, finding freedom and peace in the skies. His curiosity extended into the digital age with a keen interest in computers and genealogical research, where he devoted countless hours unearthing and preserving the histories of his family and others. Alongside his devoted wife, Valerie Gray McMinn Campbell, he delighted in exploring the vastness of the country in their RV, embracing the joys and camaraderie of the Good Sam's Camping Club.
Lloyd’s roots run deep in faith and fellowship. A former Elder of the Batesville Presbyterian Church and a dedicated member of the Lester Sunday School Class, he was an integral part of his church family. When not engaged in his travels or work, he found solace in the outdoors, enjoying hunting and the beauty of nature.
He will forever be remembered by his loving wife, Valerie Gray McMinn Campbell of Batesville, MS; his daughters, Shelley Campbell Perluzzo (Raffaele) of Westerham, England, and Michelle Campbell Mundroff (Bill) of Batesville, MS; and his treasured siblings Monnie Campbell Eubank of Oakland, MS, Diane Campbell Carlisle (Marvin) of Greenville, MS, Larry Campbell (Diane) of Jacksonville, NC, and Jackie Campbell (Essie) of Olive Branch, MS. His legacy continues warmly through his grandchildren, Mitchel Mundroff and Campbell Mundroff, both of Batesville, MS.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Ervin Campbell and Virginia Slater Campbell; his stepmother, Marie Gregory Campbell; and his siblings Maeona Campbell, Kenneth Campbell, and Texas Campbell.
Lloyd Ervin Campbell, Jr.’s life was a tapestry of service, love, adventure, and faith. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and a spirit that soared as high as the planes he piloted. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and eternally remembered.
