Marc T. McGovern

Marc T. McGovern, age 61, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026 at his home near Sardis, Mississippi.

A memorial service to celebrate Marc's life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, July 30, 2026 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Marc was born on March 3, 1965 to the late Mancle Thomas “Tommy” McGovern, Jr. and Janice Melbena Cowgill McGovern in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Marc built a remarkable career as a salesman, dedicating much of his life to helping others find what they needed. He worked in car sales and appliance sales with distinction at establishments such as Moore Brothers, Ross Motor Company, and TNT Appliances. Later in his career, he moved into the construction industry, where his entrepreneurial drive led him to own and operate Two Brothers Construction.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Marc was known for his deep appreciation for vintage and antique treasures. He took great pleasure in classic car shows and antique road shows, always eager to learn and share stories about the past. His love for music found a voice in his skill as a saxophone instrumentalist, delighting those who had the privilege of hearing him play. Few things brought him more contentment than unwinding in his favorite recliner to watch The Andy Griffith Show and Survivor.

In his earlier years, Marc owned several pool halls, venues that became gathering places for friends and neighbors. His presence there was more than that of a business owner.

Marc’s proudest accomplishments extended beyond career and hobby. He was filled with pride for his Choctaw heritage, cherishing the legacy and culture passed down to him. Ever the dreamer, he often spoke of the thrill and freedom of traveling with carnival groups—a true “carny” at heart, drawn to the unique fabric of American life under the big top. Marc was also a man of faith and a member of Hebron Baptist Church.

The family Marc leaves behind to cherish his memory include his three children, Brooke West (Timothy) of Marks, MS, Mancle Thomas “Trey” McGovern, III of Hernando, MS, and Camryn McGovern of Batesville, MS; his two brothers, John McGovern (Stacey) of Pope, MS, and Heath McGovern (Carrie) of Sardis, MS; and his three grandchildren, Caleb West, Bowen West, and Miracle West all of Marks, MS.
