Margaret Ann Cates

Margaret Ann Cates, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at Beehive Homes of Batesville, Mississippi. She was born on November 17, 1945, in Memphis, Tennessee.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Sardis, Mississippi. 

Margaret Ann’s life was marked by dedication both in her career and in her personal passions. She served with diligence and care as the collections manager at Sears for many years, where her professionalism and kindness were well known. Following this, she joined Lowe's sales team, continuing her work until her retirement.

Outside of her professional life, Margaret Ann was an avid flower gardener, finding joy and solace in nurturing her garden, which blossomed under her attentive care. She was a dedicated member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Sardis, MS.

Margaret Ann is survived by her son, Robert Cates of Pope, Mississippi. She also leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy D. Cates, with whom she shared many meaningful years; her brother, Johnny Pesce, Jr.; and her parents, Johnny Pesce, Sr. and Mary Farris Pesce.
