Margaret Sue Fudge

Feb 1, 1934 — Jun 3, 2026

Margaret Sue Fudge, fondly known as Sue, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, in Oxford, Mississippi. Born on February 1, 1934, in Marks, Mississippi, she lived a life deeply rooted in kindness, warmth, and grace. Throughout her 90 years, Sue was a beacon of love and friendliness, someone who never met a stranger and whose sweet and kind nature touched all who had the privilege to know her.

Funeral services for Sue will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. Interment will follow the service at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, June 7th from 4:00 to 6:00 at Wells Funeral Home.

Sue’s professional career was marked by dedication and service as a secretary for Sears and Roebuck, where she was known for her diligence and commitment. Beyond her work, she cherished the simple joys of life—being an avid reader with a special preference for the works of Danielle Steele and John Grisham, spending serene days at the lake, and traveling alongside the love of her life, Don McCall. Family held a special place in her heart, and her desire to always look her best reflected not only her outward appearance but the care and respect she showed to everyone around her.

Sue’s life was enriched by the love and companionship of those closest to her. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren John Blake Ritter of Sardis, Adrienne Kaye Kelso and her husband Chuck of Tunica, and Renda Sue Morris and her husband Michael of Batesville. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren Cody Hill and his wife Heather, Amber Dettor and her husband Michael, Maggie Ritter, Ripkin Mitchell, Kyle Kelso, and Dakota Kelso, as well as her great-great-grandchildren Hardie, Remington, Barrett, and Beau—each carrying forward the memories and love Sue so generously shared.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Buren and Pauline Winters Sykes; her devoted husband, Don McCall; her son, Garry Sykes Ritter; and her brother, John “JB” Sykes. The loss of these dear family members marked significant chapters in Sue’s life, yet her spirit remained vibrant and enduring.

Margaret Sue Fudge will be remembered not only for her quiet strength and kindness but also for the genuine joy she found in life’s everyday moments and the lasting impression she left on all who knew her. Her warmth, generosity, and heartfelt goodness serve as a lasting tribute to a remarkable woman who truly embodied the grace and beauty of a well-lived life. She will be deeply missed and forever honored by her family and friends.
