Mark T. Griffis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on September 23, 2025, in Sardis, Mississippi. Born on January 31, 1960, in Memphis, Tennessee, Mark's life was marked by the joy he brought to those around him and the passions he pursued.
Funeral services for Mark will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Wells Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. Mark will be laid to rest at Black Jack Cemetery in Sardis.
Mark had a fulfilling career as a machinist, working for Smith and Nephew in Memphis, Tennessee. His skills and dedication were evident in every project he undertook, earning him respect amongst his colleagues. Though work was an important part of his life, it was the time spent with family that brought him the greatest happiness.
A fun-loving individual, Mark had a zest for life that was evident in all of his endeavors. He cherished the moments spent outdoors, particularly engaging in hunting and fishing. His love for crappie fishing led him to attend the annual Grizzly Jig Company Show in Caruthersville, Missouri for many years, where he shared his enthusiasm for the sport with fellow enthusiasts. Also, he delighted in golf cart riding, finding joy in simple pleasures.
Above all, Mark took pride in his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Diann Griffis, of Sardis; his daughter, Melissa Bowen (Troy), of Southaven; and his son, Mark Griffis, Jr. (Bonnie), of Lake Cormorant. Mark's legacy continues through his eight cherished grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Carole Lusk (Richard), of Germantown, Tennessee.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Leland Griffis and Emma Sorrells Griffis, and his brothers, Johnny and Richard Griffis, as well as his granddaughter, Jenna Bowen. The warmth of his memory will forever fill the hearts of all who loved him.
Mark T. Griffis will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends.
