Mark Byron Shuford, Sr., age 90, passed away Tuesday morning, July 13, 2021 at the Oxford Health and Rehab Center.
Mark was born on February 26, 1931 to the late Norman Clifford Shuford, Sr. and Grace Calif Byron Shuford in Smithfield, North Carolina. He was retired from his business, American Consolidators Inc. and was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oxford. Mark served as former president for the Commissioners of Coles Point Fire Department and also as former president for Memphis Motor Carriers Association. He also honorably served our country for four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
The family he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Gail Farmer Shuford of Batesville, MS; two step-daughters, Gail Ann Willis (James Price) of Southaven, MS, and Donna Alice Quinn (Danny) of Collierville, TN; one step-son, John Byron Farmer, III (Garner Chandler) of Grayton Beach, FL; 6 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Along with Mark’s parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Mark Byron Shuford, Jr., and one brother, Norman Clifford Shuford, Jr.
A memorial service for Mark will be held at a later date.
