Mark Dolson Weaver, affectionately known as "Coach Weaver", passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025 at his home in Batesville, MS.

A memorial gathering to honor Mark's life will be held on July 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Mark are invited to join together to celebrate his remarkable life and the cherished memories he leaves behind.

Mark was born on April 25, 1948 to the late Sam and Letha Gray Weaver in Haleyville, Alabama. He devoted nearly 25 years of his life to teaching and coaching football alongside Coach Wright at South Panola High School, where he inspired countless young athletes with his commitment and love for the game. Coach Weaver’s enthusiasm for football extended beyond the field; he cherished sharing his knowledge and instilling a sense of teamwork and discipline in his players.

In addition to his career in education and coaching, Mark honorably served in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty and honor throughout his life. His service was just one of the many ways he displayed his steadfast commitment to his community and country.

Mark had a zest for life that went beyond football. He found joy in the tranquility of nature, often spending his free time fishing or hunting, activities that allowed him to connect with his surroundings and appreciate the simple pleasures of life. His vibrant personality and warmth left a lasting imprint on those who had the privilege to know him.

The family he leaves behind includes his wife, Donna Franklin Weaver of Batesville, MS; two sons, James Andrew Weaver of Fayette, AL, and Richard Whitson “Whit” Lawrence (Renee) of Batesville, MS; two sisters, Elaine Cole of Cullman, AL, and Deborah Towbridge of Tuscaloosa, AL; five grandchildren, Hunter Lawrence (Megan) of Batesville, MS, Bailey Lawrence (Tonya) of Batesville, MS, Nicholas DeMaria (Chade) of Fort Myers, FL, Bethani DeMaria of Fort Myers, FL, and Grason DeMaria of Ft. Myers, FL; and three great grandchildren, Fletcher Lawrence, Cowen Magee, and Blakely Lawrence.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two children, Shane Lawrence and Tifani DeMaria; and one great grandson, Blaine Lawrence.
