Marsha Lee Smith, age 83, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at her home in Batesville, MS.

The family will be celebrating her life at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 2026, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis, MS. The family will be receiving friends at 3:00 P.M. prior to the service.

Marsha was born on December 5, 1942, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, her life was a testament to love, commitment, and joy found in simple and profound pleasures.

Marsha’s heart and home were open to all who knew her. Her deep love for family was evident in every gathering, a space where laughter and warmth were always abundant. She found great joy in activities that brought her closer to nature and the people she cared for; fishing, going on cruises, spending time at the beach, and swimming were among her favorite pastimes. Through these interests, Marsha created lasting memories not only for herself but for those fortunate enough to share in her adventures. She was also a faithful member of Sardis Lake Baptist Church, where her spirit and kindness touched the people she held dear.

Her family remembers her as a beacon of love and strength. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert Craig Storar, Jr. and Dolly Greathouse Storar, and her loving husband, Tommie Joe Smith. Marsha was also preceded by her two siblings, Barbara Storar Garlish and Robert Craig Storar, III. The legacy of her nurturing spirit lives on through her daughter Michelle Smith and her husband Tony of Batesville, MS, and her son William Craig Burdett and his wife Suzie of Southaven, MS. Marsha was also a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Crystal Shideler, Kimberly Taylor, William Burdett, Michael Burdett, Tabitha Burdett, and Robert "RJ" Burdett. Her warmth extended further still to her six great-grandchildren: Madison Burdett, Clayton Smith, Ashton Shideler, Colton Shideler, Zack Brewer, and Joshua Taylor, all of whom were lights in her life and sources of immense pride and joy. Marsha held a special place in her heart for her nephew, Douglas McFadden (Deborah) of Tampa, FL.

Marsha Lee Smith’s life was woven with love, laughter, and devotion—a true testament to the power of family and faith. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever shine in the hearts of those who loved her. Her memory will be a cherished blessing, guiding her loved ones with the same gentle spirit and unwavering love she showed to all.
