Mary Elizabeth Stafford Colclasure, age 76, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Diversicare Nursing Home of Batesville.
A memorial service for Mary will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026 at New Hope Church of God with Rev. Raymond Aven officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mary was born on July 8, 1949 to the late Johnny Quinton House and Lillie Bea Joyner House in Sardis, Mississippi. Throughout her life, she was a natural caregiver, consistently putting the needs of others ahead of her own.
Mary devoted much of her career as the dietary supervisor for Graceland Nursing Home, where she dedicated herself to the well-being of residents, ensuring they received nutritious meals and compassionate care. After her time at the nursing home, she spent most days assisting and supporting her husband with his various painting jobs.
Beyond her work, Mary found great joy in the simple and beautiful pleasures of life. She enjoyed tending to her vibrant flower gardens and feeding her hummingbirds. She also had a great affection for animals, especially dogs.
Those she leaves behind to remember her precious memory include her four children, Mary Elizabeth “Cookie” Seguin and her husband Alan of Ellenburg, NY, Bill “Pedro” Stafford of Courtland, MS, Ben Stafford of Batesville, MS, and Brittany Cecerre of Pope, MS; two sisters, Patricia Ann House and Debbie Smith both of Batesville, MS; one brother, Jefferson Davis House of Tennessee.
The grandchildren she leaves behind, whom she all adored, include: Helen Mary Seguin, Heather Ashley Seguin, Paige Alexandria Stafford, Ashley Stafford, Conleigh Long, Emery Cecerre, Jaedyn Cecerre, and Joey Cecerre. Mary also leaves behind several great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, who also hold a special place in heart.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Carroll Colclasure; her son, Johnny Colclasure; and two siblings, Johnnie Faye Long and Clifton George House.
