Nan Marie Hentz

Oct 10, 1935 — Oct 26, 2026

Cleveland, TN

Nan Marie Hentz, age 91, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 26, 2026. Born on October 10, 1935, in Rome, Mississippi, Nan lived a full life with unwavering devotion to her family.

Nan met the love of her life, John Thomas Hentz, in Tutwiler, Mississippi, and the two were married in 1955 for 61 cherished years. John preceded her in death on October 18, 2016, and after a decade without him, Nan is now reunited with her beloved husband.

A dedicated educator, Nan spent her career shaping young minds and hearts as a teacher at Mayfield Elementary School. The lives she touched through teaching are a lasting part of her legacy.

Nan was a longtime member of Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee, where she and John worshipped together for over four decades. Nan's greatest joy was in her family. You could often find Nan cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events, gathering together for holidays, and simply being present in the lives of those she loved most. She had a love for golf, a passion she shared with her late husband John on the course and, in more recent years, with her granddaughter where she created memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Grantham, and her husband Jay; her son, Ricky Hentz, and his wife Angie; her grandchildren, Sara Shoffner and her husband Jonathan, Katherine Grantham, Sam Grantham and his wife Madison, Mary Elizabeth Hentz, and Will Hentz and his wife Brooke; her great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Mallory Shoffner, Samuel Jay and Murphy Grantham; as well as many beloved nieces and extended family members.
