Rebecca Sue “Becky” Smith

Rebecca Sue “Becky” Smith, age 76, passed away Monday, October 12, 2026, at her home in Oxford, Mississippi, surrounded by her loving family. Her passing came less than a month after the loss of her beloved husband, John Henry Smith.

A private ceremony will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Becky was born January 7, 1950, to the late Darwin and Sue Michael of Olive Branch, Mississippi.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Becky found her greatest joy in the family she loved so dearly. She especially enjoyed bingo and getting dressed up to spend time with her friends. Anyone who knew Becky knew she never left home without being dressed from head to toe, with her shoes and purse matching her outfit. She also loved anything and everything about the Memphis Tigers.

Becky leaves behind her children, Chasity Kim (Sammy) of Oxford, Mississippi, and John Darwin Smith (Wendy) of Pontotoc, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Courtney Pruitt (Barron), Taylor House (Brandon), Devon Stiles (Mitchell), Denver Smith (Logan), Dayton Smith (Vincent), Kylee Smith (Landon), Elizabeth Bullard Manning, Landis Kim, and Jorja Smith; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Nathan, Jaxon, Kason, Kynslee, Hudson, Mabry, Ella, Avery, Graci, Sawyer, and Stetson.

Becky’s family also wishes to recognize Kelly Smith, whose loving help and care meant so much to Becky and her family. The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Madison and Andrea of Gentiva Hospice, for their compassion and loving care, and a very special acknowledgment to Jonathan, whom Becky adored. Their kindness and comfort will always be remembered.

Becky was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Henry Smith; her parents, Darwin and Sue Michael of Olive Branch, Mississippi; her brothers, Wilson “Joe” Michael of Bartlett, Tennessee, and Patrick Michael of Texas; and her sisters, Connie Brandon of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Debbie Herring of Holly Springs, Mississippi.

The love Becky and John Henry shared was truly special. After a lifetime together, their bond was so strong that their family finds comfort in believing they wished only to be reunited, and God heard their hearts. Though their loved ones grieve losing them so close together, they take comfort in the thought of Becky and John Henry together again in Heaven, where there are no more goodbyes. Together in life, together in Heaven, and forever in the hearts of those who loved them.
