Sarah Castleberry, age 86, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford, MS.
The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 20, 2025, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Lambert Cemetery in Lambert, MS. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service.
Sarah was born on August 10, 1939 in Carroll County, MS to the late George Franklin Miller and Carrie Easter Self Miller. She dedicated her life to both her family and her passions, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.
Sarah was known for her culinary skills and serving others, owning the Serving Spoon in Lambert, MS, and serving as a cook at Lambert High School. Her passion for cooking was matched only by her love for flowers, particularly red and yellow roses, bringing beauty and joy into the lives of those around her.
Throughout her life, Sarah was an active member of First Baptist Church in Grenada, MS, where she found fellowship and community.
Sarah is survived by her children, Brenda Cates (the late Jim) of LaPorte, IN, Frankie Matthews (Joann) of Batesville, MS, Bonnie Steward (Ed) of Batesville, MS, and Ruthie Stovall (the late Jimbo) of Marks, MS. Additionally, she leaves behind her step-son, Gayle Castleberry. Sarah was a proud and loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Franklin Miller and Carrie Easter Self Miller; one step-daughter, Julie Castleberry Martin; and three siblings, Betty Gazaway, George Edward Miller, and Billy Ray Miller.
