Shirley was born on April 25, 1936 to Victor Earl and Maggie Bailey in Ethel, MS, and went home to be with Jesus on April 1, 2022, at the age of 85 at her home in Batesville, MS.
The family will be gathering Monday evening, April 4, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home to receive friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Crowder Baptist Church with Reverend Truman Scarborough officiating. Family will also be receiving friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at Crowder Baptist Church. The interment will follow at Crowder Cemetery.
Shirley worked for a time in the early years of her adult life at Marks Manufacturing but spent most of her life as an excellent homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to cook for her loved ones and especially loved baking delicious cakes, pies, and other desserts. She was a member of Crowder Baptist Church.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Teresa Vowell Helmes of Batesville, MS, grandchildren Brandon Helmes of Batesville, MS, Brittany (Matthew) Kyle of Sherman Oaks, CA, Anthony (Sharron) Daniels of Aberdeen, MS, Tracey Daniels Faulkner of Jasper, AL, Wayne (Misty) Daniels of Amory, MS, Paige Daniels and Nathan Daniels of Crowder, MS, 11 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren, Sister-in-Law Joan Bailey of Crowder, MS, and many very dear nieces and nephews.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Victor Earl and Maggie (Muirhead) Bailey, her husband Doyle L. Vowell, her son Billy Michael Daniels, a full-term stillborn daughter (Vowell baby), a great-great-granddaughter Kaylee Seay, and siblings Louise Wimberly, Earline White, Sue Sutton, Harold Wayne Bailey, James Bailey, and Perry Bailey.
The family would like to thank all of Shirley's doctor's, nurses, caregivers, and aides that took care of her over the years and during her illness and hospice care.
