Stanley Goodwin, age 85, passed away Thursday evening, February 19, 2026, at his home in Batesville, MS.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 22, 2026, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service.
Stanley was born on June 12, 1940, in Quitman County, Mississippi, he lived a life filled with passion for cars and a commitment to his family and friends.
Stanley was known for his unwavering dedication to his business, having established Stanley's Auto in 1970, which became a staple in Batesville for those seeking quality vehicles and reliable service. His love for cars extended beyond his work; he enjoyed selling cars and frequently attended car shows, where he could share his enthusiasm with fellow enthusiasts. Beyond his professional endeavors, Stanley also enjoyed visiting casinos, where he would spend leisure time with friends and family.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Sherry Stokes Goodwin of Batesville, Mississippi; his sons, Keith Goodwin (Nita) and Mark Goodwin (Mary Jo), both of Batesville; and his daughter, Jackie Herron (Matthew), also of Batesville, and his sister-in-law, Angie Jaudon. Stanley is also survived by his step-daughters, Susie Ferguson of LaGrange, Georgia, and Lisa McIver of Pensacola, Florida. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a loving great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren.
Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, Loraine Chrestman Freeman, and his father, John Elmer Goodwin, grandson, Brett Goodwin, and step-daughter, Stephanie Allen Egbert. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Atkins, Shirley Malone, and Billie Faye Johnson.
