Susanne Woods

Lori Susanne Reed-Woods, age 58, of Batesville, Mississippi, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 6, 2025.

Susanne was born to the late Lillian Sue Reed and William Z. Reed III and was a longtime resident of the Batesville area, where she built a life filled with laughter, strong opinions, and deep love for her family — especially around the holidays.

She is survived by her beloved son, Colby Woods of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her brother, William Z. Reed IV, and his wife, Diana L. Reed, of Floresville, Texas; her aunt, Myrt Guinn, and uncle, Mark Hastings, both of Batesville, Mississippi, who lovingly cared for her until the very end. She was the proud aunt of Kenzi Collins of Perry, Georgia; Fayte Reed of Floresville, Texas; Gauge Reed of New Braunfels, Texas; William Z. Reed V of Converse, Texas; and Dayle Reed of San Antonio, Texas. She also cherished her great-nieces and nephews — Wilder and Westin Collins of Perry, Georgia, and Zeeni Reed of Converse, Texas.

Known for her bold spirit and contagious laughter, Susanne never hesitated to speak her mind — often with humor and heart. She had a lifelong love of Volkswagens, a playful sense of adventure, and a gift for making people smile. As a High School Tiger Mascot and later a Northwest Rangerette, she embodied the same joy and enthusiasm that carried through her life.

A devoted animal lover, Susanne adored her dogs, who were her constant companions and a source of comfort and joy. Her home was always filled with wagging tails, unconditional love, and a few treats tucked away “just in case.”

Though retired in recent years, Susanne remained deeply connected to her family and friends, always ready to share a story, a laugh, or an honest opinion.

She will be deeply missed by all who loved her and remembered for her authenticity, wit, and the laughter she brought to every room.

The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to her home health nurses, the staff of Azalea Commons in Batesville, and her dear friend of 45 years, Angie Sutton, for their invaluable care, dedication, and friendship.

A memorial service to celebrate and remember Susanne’s life will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
