Sylvia Strock Clarendon

Sylvia Strock Clarendon, M.D., a distinguished plastic surgeon and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home in Como, Mississippi on February 9, 2026. Born on September 27, 1938 in Bartow, Florida, Sylvia dedicated nearly three decades of her life to the art and science of plastic surgery, establishing a fruitful practice alongside her husband, Colin C. D. Clarendon, M.D., at Plastic Surgeons, Inc. in Memphis, Tennessee.

Throughout their career, Sylvia and Colin specialized in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, making significant contributions to the field. They were pioneers, learning advanced liposuction techniques from a French doctor and subsequently introducing these innovative methods to the United States. Their commitment to education and mentorship enriched the lives of many medical students and professionals.

As a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, Sylvia achieved the rank of Captain during her service, and she and her husband remained actively involved with the Millington, Tennessee Military base, where they performed surgeries together, underscoring their dedication to service and healing.

Sylvia was also a devoted member of the Christ Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church in Memphis, where her faith played a central role in her life. Although she moved from Memphis, she stayed in touch with her church family and was always helping when she could.

She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to her patients and community.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Strock of Memphis, TN; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Strock of Memphis, TN; four step-daughters: Wendye Clarendon (Errol) of Chicago, IL, Anne O'Loughlin (Mark) of Chicago, IL, D'Arcy Tickle of Atlanta, GA, and Leigh Uttich (Bill) of Dallas, TX; one grandson, Matthew Strock of Memphis, TN; and four step-grandchildren, Bailey Uttich, Drew Uttich, Megan O'Loughlin, and Caitlin O'Loughlin.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Colin C. D. Clarendon, M.D., and her son, David Strock, Jr.

Her enduring spirit and remarkable contributions will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

There are no services held at this time for Sylvia. There will be a private family inurnment in Memphis, Tennessee at a later date.
