Veedy K. Franklin

Livestream of Funeral Service

Veedy Franklin, 95, of Batesville, MS, passed away on Saturday January 20, 2024. 

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 3:00 pm in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park. 

Ms. Veedy was born September 16, 1928 in Burnsville, MS to the late Luther Kennedy and Cleo Davis Kennedy. A member of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church, Ms. Veedy attended cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser. Ms. Veedy enjoyed bowling with her twin sister in past years, playing in several tournaments. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, working outside in her yard, and the occasional trip to the casino.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Veedy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Woodrow "Woody" Franklin, two grandchildren, Tifani DeMaria and Shane Lawrence, and eight siblings. 

The family she leaves to cherish her memory include five children, Donna Lawrence Weaver (Mark), of Batesville, MS, Richard Paul "Bud" Franklin, of Batesville, MS, Sheila Franklin Ragon (Tony), of Courtland, MS, Cheryl Franklin Elkins (Richard), of Batesville, MS, and Tammy Franklin, of Oxford, MS, eight grandchildren, Whit Lawrence, Kim Delancy, Todd Franklin, Chris Franklin, Corey Johnston, Paige Fleming, Payton Ragon, Patrick Ragon, thirteen great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.
