William Michael "Mike" Brasell, Sr.

William Michael "Mike" Brasell, Sr., a cherished farmer and beloved member of his community, passed away on September 1, 2025, at the age of 80, in his hometown of Batesville. Born on November 5, 1944, in Batesville, he dedicated his life to the land he loved, working as a farmer throughout his entire career. His connection to the earth shaped not just his work, but also the simple, fulfilling life he cherished.

A service to celebrate Mike's life will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 4, 2025, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends prior to the celebration beginning at 9:00 A.M. Following the service, Mike will be laid to rest next to his wife, Patsy, at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS.

Mike was known for his easy-going personality and his enjoyment of the simple pleasures in life. He found much joy in hunting with family at their camp, riding his side-by-side, and watching the crops grow under the sun. He was particularly fond of his fur baby, Muffin, a small yet meaningful aspect of his daily routine that brings a smile to those who knew him.

In addition to his passion for farming, Mike was deeply committed to his family. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Brasell Taylor, and son, Michael Brasell (Angela), both of Batesville. Mike was also proud to be the brother of Banks Brasell (Joyce) of Batesville. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Alli McBrayer (Seth), Tres Brasell (CiCi), Janie Brasell Fowler, Patrick Ellis, and Leslie Taylor, as well as six great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy Mullin Brasell, and was reunited in passing with his great granddaughter, Lucy Brasell, and his parents, Leslie Wood Brasell and Juanita Banks Brasell.

Mike's enduring spirit and love for his family and land will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He leaves behind not only memories but also a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication that will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
